Kelvin, you betrayed me

The cold saunters to the window

Warmth,aggravated, musters a defense

A battle upon crystallized silicon

Warmth has human support

Yet the cold is too strong

Defense defenestrated

Like an unbound mist

Frigidity moves slowly forward

Down the wall to the floor

The determined icy imp crawls,

Pets scurry but the humans sleep

The miniscule hibernation

Senses dulled fully

Freezing fingers reach out

Grabbing the victim but not waking

The skin turns to goose,

Hairs stringing skyward

There is no further hope

All protection is lost

Slowly the skin loses colour

The breath shallows

The eyeball solidifies

The jaw slackens

The cold wins.
